Interesting only to old WWU students: Way back when, there was some drama between WWU and my old Intro to the Cinema teacher (thanks to whom I have now seen Rollerball and Zardoz.)
Turns out, he's gone all the way to the State Supreme Court.

His Intro to Cinema was the best class I ever took at WWU, hands down, as either an undergraduate or graduate student. I wasn't aware of this issue, but I am utterly unsurprised.

i read that this morning! i was particularly interested, having taken 1.5 of his classes. Intro to Cinema was cool, cuz i was a freshman and it was a class about movies. But i had to drop the playwright-ing class, cuz he's kind of an insufferable boor and no way was i gonna be able to put up with his abuse in a workshop setting.

it's interesting that it's gotten that far. i wish they'd explained a little about the case.

Hah. I have no doubt he made abusive remarks to students and faculty -- if memory serves, the man never did suffer fools, nor possess an ounce of tact.

Thanks for posting -- I had no idea it was still going. Never took his classes, but had enough friends in theatre that I knew those who hated and loved him.
