At last, I have a website I'm relatively happy with. It's here for now. I'm with Freeservers right now, and though I'm not sure if I should stick with them, they've been fine so far. Let me know what your experience with web servers have been like.
This is definitely a beta version of my site. I've only got a basic grasp of html and css, so I may well be missing something. (Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] csinman for helping me fix stuff.) There should be a graphic with my name at the top, which seems to be missing when I look at it in Firefox. Let me know if you see it, or have any ideas what the heck I should do.
[EDIT: Graphic fixed. Thanks, Tara!]

Also, I linked to a bunch of people, since I had no idea what else to stick in my sidebar. If you don't want to be there, or want me to link to something different, let me know.

This is it for now. Soon I'll have a real domain name of my own. <3

Cool.

You could add me to your sidebar if you wanted. :-) shannonpage dot net.

Cute! As for your tech issues...where did you get the code--did you write it or did you gank it from somewhere(free template, for example)? Because the code is a bit of a mess and it's missing a doc type, so the browsers are confused :) Go here for more info on why it's necessary: http://www.w3.org/QA/Tips/Doctype

Also, the link for your header/graphic is pointing to your desktop and not to an uploaded location (ie website.com/images/lisa.jpg). And since I do web design, I have an older version of Firefox (as well as a newer one). We have to check the sites on a million browsers (so annoying). Your site displays okay on the new version (3), but not on 2. Not sure why...

Anyway, hope that helps a little!

And, poof! It's fixed. Thanks so much!
Yeah, the code is totally the result of me teaching myself css by messing with code from various websites and free templates. Now that I've done that, I got myself a real book from the library, (if I hadn't immersed myself in real code beforehand, nothing in a book would sink in.) so maybe my next attempt will be cleaner on the code side.

And thanks for the link to the Doctype info. Like I said, I'm very much a beginner when it comes to html, so I appreciate the chance to expand my understanding one small step at a time. I'll look more into it when I'm less brainfried. :-)

It looks good! The graphic works in Safari, for what it's worth.
