Aug. 15th, 2009 06:19 pmSo the other day, I came up with a story idea that involved an old WWII bomber. The very next day, I learned there'd be a B17 Flying Fortress at the Heritage Flight Museum at the airport. I didn't even know we had a museum! They've got a respectable collection there, and every 3rd Saturday of the month, they take a bunch of them out for a flight. The museum was founded by Bill Anders, one of the first guys to orbit the moon. Apparently he lives around here. Who knew?
I got there just as the plane was taking off, and got some nice shots. A fighter plane accompanied it. By the time the plane got back, a combination of confusion, laziness and hunger meant I didn't go onboard.

Also, to get you in the mood for the story I'm going to write, here's a cool photo of the Pistol Packin' Mamas.
