There was actually cider tonight! I'm not a beer or wine person, so I actually got tipsy, and hopefully didn't embarrass myself too much with tipsy babbling. This week's instructor was Nalo Hopkinson, who taught [livejournal.com profile] kehrli last year, so my one conversation with her consisted of gossiping about our beloved mutual acquaintance. I also got to be in the same room as Vonda McIntyre, and actually talk to her (albeit in my tipsy mode, barging into a preexisting conversation to babble about the aquarium tv screen thing on the wall.) I always see her name on guest lists at cons I'm at, but I never actually see her. I was starting to doubt her existence.
The ride home consisted of [livejournal.com profile] csinman reading excerpts from his and Keffy's old fiction. (written, I believe at fourteen and twelve years old, respectively.) The sky's sweet sterling blood. That's all I have to say.

OMG I would love to encounter early adolescent fiction from any of you three!

Well, my earliest fiction is from about age 18, and is actually pretty boring. Yes, it's primarily dialogue, but aside from the blatant D/s explorations, it's pretty snoozeworthy. If I'd had the courage to write at age 12, we might have seen some spectacular stuff. Spectacular like the Enterprise visiting the planet of the Fairy Princesses.

My earliest fiction was when I was 5, and then I re-wrote it as a musical when I was 7. It was called "The Indian Cowgirl" and it was about a Pakistani girl who came to America and became a sort of quasi-supernatural crime fighter, targeting people who destroyed the environment, particularly suburban developers. She was loosely based on the Captain Planet series, but could also shape-shift into a unicorn with wings.

Oh my God it has been so long since I thought about that!! I wish there were any version of it still around, but I assume it was destroyed during a computer update.

(This amuses me so much it'll get a whole post on MY LJ, even!)
