I didn't know about it, and I have a date that night. I'm just now reading Perdito Street Station and really enjoying it, so it would have been awesome timing.
Could you bring your date to the reading? Because seriously, do you want to date someone who doesn't love readings?
So far, Perdido's been my least favorite of the three novels I've read by him. The Scar's my favorite. It's got all the cool stuff from Perdido, with far less...scatalogical stuff. Seriously, the spit/poop sculptures squick me too much. The City and the City is nothing like either. I'm glad he's consciously trying to do different things. I'm now trying to think of a genre he hasn't done that I could suggest he write in.
