Oh, so it wasn't anywhere close to the Galapagos, but I did think of you when I went through a cave a few months ago and saw a puddle of blood that the vampire bats vomited up.... that's right, I was told that they digest part of the blood and regurgitate another part, which leaves a really oozy red puddle on the rocks beneath where they roost. Really really creepy stuff... exactly why I thought you might like it. :)
