GoogleDocs font options INFURIATE me!!
The first four are: "Serif", "Sans Serif", "Wide", and "Narrow."
Do you think we're idiots, GoogleDocs? Call it goddamm Arial already.

But is it really Arial? Or is it "whatever sans-serif font you have on your machine", i.e. Arial on Windows, Helvetica on Mac, etc.

I'm on a Mac, and it's definitely Arial. I just checked on our PC, and it's still Arial!

But is it *guaranteed* to be Arial? I somehow doubt that, and I'll bet that they're calling it "Sans-serif" to hedge their bets.

I just tested it out in Linux, and sans-serif doesn't look like Arial. Font definition in CSS can be either specific font names, or generic family names. It really is system dependent. I'm surprised a Mac chose Arial, but it may be a design decision for the browser, since site creators often assume it WILL be Arial (or rather, that it will look the same everywhere).
