In which I'm not allowed to be lazy
Nov. 30th, 2008 09:42 amLast night, as I was falling asleep (listening to the clicky clicky of my fan) I had a D'oh! moment.
There exists in my novel, Character-Around-Whose-Death-the-Climax-Centers. I realized last night that I killed off CAWDtCC a few chapters ago, because I was having trouble writing him and there was another character who did his job better and was more interesting. However, More Interesting Character isn't suited for the ultimate job of CAWDtCC.
So I can't kill off the first guy, but I can shove him aside until later, when he needs to die. But it means I can't be lazy, and I will have to make him an Interesting Character. Because, Dammit, I refuse to kill off characters who aren't Interesting. Where's the fun?
