Of course, where she's struggling to break into Great Writer Land, I'm struggling to reach, "Publishable Writer Land". I'm taking a clue from
kaerfel and doing prewriting, to get a feel for my characters. This means I'm letting myself write about them doing whatever they feel like, in scenes that have no connection to the story I'm writing about. Scenes I can have fun with and not feel any pressure over. I'm not going to worry about subtly inserting world-building or description, just figuring out how the characters interact with the world. And I'm definitely not going to worry about finishing those scenes.
