My boss (the one I occasionally hear singing, "Send in the Gnomes" and who insists on micromanaging where we lay our paper) just came by, saying, "Arthur C. Clarke has just left the firm. I don't know what he wrote, but he's just checked out."

Not the place I was expecting to learn that.
Farewell to an amazing man.

EDIT: As fenmere pointed out, because Clarke died in Sri Lanka, he actually died tomorrow.
