Okay, I wasn't going to get into this agent posting stuff, but I'd feel bad if I didn't say anything.

I've been talking to a few writers who have been newly published and agented within the last year (not about this, but just in general). All of them received a contract and got an official offer of representation. Also, all of them were notified before the submission process began--as to a. when it would begin and b. who they were sending it to.

Research has told me that Nancy is a reputable agent. However, something about this doesn't seem right to me. But like you guys, I don't know that much about agenting. Just what I've been told from agented writers as far as what to look out for.

However, if everything is legit and cool, I'm very happy for Chelsea. But I'd still be cautious without a contract.

I mentioned the contract issue as well, because I'd personally be bothered by it, but the more information about agents I'm exposed to, the more (http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32820) I find (https://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=8115089&postID=114139528351661080&pli=1) that operate this way (http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41858). (It looks like it was the old-fashioned way (http://www.publishingquestions.com/booktext/contracts.html) to do it, and while I personally would rather have a contract, it's traditional.)

And since Nancy Gallt does have verified sales in Chelsea's genre, and our combined Internet Fu yields no complaints, I'm sure everything's fine. :)

Also, I e-mailed her about it, and apparently she forgot the whole contract step and is sending me an agency manifesto on Monday, so no worries! ^_^
