Typographic rant of the day.
Nov. 21st, 2007 02:55 pmSome fonts have hyphens that slant up. I'm rather fond of them, myself.
I admit, I'm lazy when I type, and rather than type an em-dash, I'll type two hyphens and replace them later.
However, in a book I'm reading right now, they're using double-hyphens, with slanty hyphens. And standard em-dashes.
Arrgghh!!!

Date: 2007-11-22 06:13 pm (UTC)Of course, I have yet to break a few of my *designer* co-workers of using hyphens for everything (not even double hyphens). TEH EM-DASH, LET ME SHOW YOU IT.

Date: 2007-11-22 06:55 pm (UTC)Agh! I just went to check, and there's a single word with an em-dash on one side and the slanty double hyphen on the other. How can anyone not see it! ArrgghhH!! And it's a book on spiritual peace. But it enrages me! Maybe it's a lesson to typesetters to release the need for perfection.
