I started reading Farewell to Arms, by Hemingway, and I hate to say it, but I'm not liking his prose, which consists of sentences like "blah and blah and blah and blah." interspersed with monosyllabic dialogue. I'd probably like it a lot if he just broke up his sentences occasionally!

Hemingway...when was he? Was he writing at the time when "blah and blah and blah" was in fashion - as opposed to today's "blah and end chapter" (sorry I'm feeling resentful of my nine rejections). I haven't read Farewell to Arms...oh, I've looked it up, he was fighting in the war at around the same time Shackleton was wandering around the South pole :)

All I remember from that book was the MC eating a hunk of cheese. And maybe the ending, if this is even the right book I read...
