Mar. 31st, 2007 10:47 amI just finished a book about Voudou that was pretty interesting. I find Voudou fascinating in the extreme, but I don't think the lwa are something I want to incorporate into my own practices. Not only because I'd feel a bit more cultural appropriating than usual, but because the lwa tend to you know, possess you. And while that may be an amazing experience with a bunch of mambos around to make sure you don't swallow your tongue, you don't want it ot happen when you're alone in your living room.
Anyway, it was a very sensible book about non-Haitians looking to be Voudousaints. So I looked up the publisher (who is not Llewellyn).
I feel so much glee at this treasure trove of potentially good books and, as Umberto Eco would say, diabolicals.
I looked them up at the library. So, instead of reading Kim Stanley Robinson like I keep saying I will do before Norwescon, I will instead read about the spiritual lives of ninjas.
