Today, I actually had a rough day at work. My job's usually pretty easy, but suddenly my co-worker took three days off to build his deck. Nothing wrong with that, especially since he comes in for two hours in the morning. But today, he hands me this job that needs a proof printed out. There's a single change, a huge pack of files to download from the ftp site, fine. I've also got a set of booklets and flyers I promised I'd get proofs out on today. The files are ready to go, if a bit unwieldy. Six hours later, I have a proof of the first job... and nothing else. How the hell that happened, I'm not sure. I never did get the second job to print out right. It was always too big, or too small, or the margins were getting cut off. WTF? It should be easy. By the end of the day, I wanted to cry.

At least I don't feel like these problems are my fault -- something I could lose my job over. If anything, everyone feels sorry for me.

I'm glad I don't work like this every day. Not only would I go insane, I'd never get any writing done. I've been getting at least one scene sketched out a day this week, and today... nothing. Instead, I got home, had two and a half shots of whiskey, ate some fattening-but-delicious ravioli, and watched Red Dwarf.

So now I'm kind of brain-dead, and pissed that my uncle is going to be off somewhere buying a car when we're going to be in Montana visiting him. Not that this was unexpected; he's turning into my grandfather. At least I'll get to see my grandma, and at least Uncle Rick's not in Iraq.

And at least I'll get a whole day to hang out in the Missoula airport, since my uncle won't be there to drive me in the evening.
