More adventures in spiderland.
Apr. 12th, 2006 07:30 pmLast night I opened my big window, and soon, a cranefly flew in. Ah, it's that time of year, I thought. (The damned things keep me up at night with their flap-flap-flap.) Later, just as I was about to turn out the light and go to sleep, this wriggling, thready ball falls mext to me. It's the whispery spider and the cranefly. I now understand why the spider's legs are so ridiculously long --it wrapped that fly up without even touching it. Eventually, the spider gave up, and started trekking towards the foot of my bed.
Not wanting to see a good meal go to waste (the cranefly's body is bigger than the spiders!) I put the tangled bug on top of Wano Ee. (the plush iguana above my bed, only a foot below the spider's perch. The web takes up the entire area, and Wano Ee is sprinkled with dessicated moth corpses.) Knowing the spider would have a tough trip back, I picked it up and put in on Wano Ee as well. Nonchalantly, it ascended into its invisible labyrinth. The cranefly flapped about a bit more, but didn't keep me up. The next morning,, and right now, the spider is munching away.
Ah nature, one foot from my face.

They all live in the corners by the window, which is an area I don't pay a lot of attention to. Also since my walls are dark it's really hard to watch them. I've been thinking of painting though...
