I'm mildly fretting over hoorayiwake, who's just been hit by Hurricane Dean. But the news said Ambergris Caye, which she lives next to, was evacuated. Now I can only hope Katie's all right and will have lots of exciting stories.

Thanks for thinking of me! We didn't evacuate, and are fine. It was a hell of a night, that's for sure... and the most exciting/hairraising part (aside from wondering whether the roof would fly off or the windows would break) was watching my neighbor go out in the middle of the storm to hack off all of the limbs of a coconut tree with a machete for no apparent reason. I don't know... to me, hurricane + ladder + machete does NOT make for a safe situation!
