I realize I haven't talked about the spiders in a while. My current favorite is a black jumping spider who's living on the wall next to my bed. He showed up during the Weekend of Pain.
I thought I'd finally seen the last of the Hot Water Pipe Spider. She disappeared for weeks, and I actually swept up part of her web when I cleaned. But she, or a spider much like her, is back. Earlier, an almost identical spider moved into the opposite corner (former home of the late Spazzy, Spazzy's Murderer, and the Dirty Spider.)
The cupboard currently houses one of the HWPS variety house spiders in plain sight. (I just know there's a zillion of them behind the ancient canned food. She tries to hide in a crack between the shelf and wall and can't entirely do it. Her butt sticks out.
There's also an enormous cellar spider (the whispery kind) in a high corner over the microwave. Thanks to it, I've got a shrink-wrapped crane fly on my counter I shold probably dispose of.
And finally, it's getting towards garden spider season. A while back, I opened my door and saw dozens of tiny yellow dots wafting in my face. A egg case in the siding had hatched. I moved the strand of spiders out of the way, but more were taking off. I hope Keffy didn't get an eyeful when she left for class. :-P
And finally, finally, I want to say a few words for the enormous garden spider who long resided in
csinman's kitchen. Garden spiders have never lasted indoors in my house (possibly because a certain roommate feeds them to the venus fly trap >:( ) And so I salute that thing, which is now a shriveled lump on the side of Sän's refrigerator.
Now I must venture forth and reap the penalties of letting creativity come first by doing my laundry in the rain.
