A friend of mine has a Delorean. After he and his wife sold their house and didn't buy a new one, he put some of the money into various standard forms of investment and the rest into a handful of classic cars that he'd lusted after for 15+ years.
The cars have all appreciated in value while the stocks and bonds and such have recorded losses ;)
