So after reading The Moon and the Sun, I wanted to come down slow. So I picked up Le Guin's The Lathe of Heaven, knowing it would be satisfying. And indeed, totally different book, but so damn awesome. Right now I'm reading Lore of the Witch World, by Andre Norton, and then I'll move on to CJ Cherryh. I'm probably an idiot, but the first (rambling) sentences of her book freak me out, so I'm building the courage to read more.
Some of the sentences in Norton's writing bug me, too. I think she's going for an old-fashioned feel, but it reads odd. "Good use did Dairine make of it, too." But otherwise I certainly can't complain. :-)
([livejournal.com profile] timata1705, it might be just because the first story opens with dragging a little girl out of a wrecked ship, but it made me think of you, and I think you'd like it. You can't go wrong with Andre Norton.)
